How do I apply?

Once you have found a program or course that meets your needs, then simply apply online or fill out the application form which you can download from our website and fax to us, and we will contact you with information on program availability, how to apply, and other important information. If there is any question regarding your application about our study abroad programs or full time chinese language program application, you can email: admission@bridgeschoolchina.com. Do I need a visa?

For Study Abroad China Program Participants, you will need a visa. Once you have applied for a program, we will contact you to inform you of your application status and other information including visa requirements.

Which type of visa should I apply to study Chinese with The BridgeSchool?

We recommend you apply for the “L visa” (tourist visa) if you are staying for less than 3 month, or the “F visa” (business visa) if you plan to stay for longer than 3 months.

Will someone meet me on arrival?

Our school offers an arrival pick up. You will be taken to your accommodation from airport by our staff and will be provided with a welcome pack notifying you of important information to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The airport pick up is included in the Total Program only. For tuition only students, an additional cost applies.

When do I need to pay?

Students already in Beijing can pay the program fee onsite when you enroll

For the study abroad China programs, once you have reached a decision on a program or course you would like to enroll, fax us the completed application form and the bank receipt of the application fee. And the further payment information will be communicated in your confirmation letter from your program advisor.

Will I need Insurance?

We hope you will not need it but you should have some form of medical and travel insurance.

Where will I stay?

Our school offers a variety of accommodation options to fit different budgets. You can choose a home family to immerse yourself in the culture and give you more practice using the language you are learning. Or choose the shared apartment, private apartment or hotel type. Accommodations are usually within 30 minutes travel time from the school and often are just a short walk away from the school.

Where do other students come from?

Your classmates will come from all over the world. They can be from Europe, North and South America, Australasia and Asia.

How fast will I learn?

If you try to put yourself in situations where you will be forced to use the language, you will definitely learn faster. It can be said it is mostly up to you. If you choose a course that provides 30 hours of instruction per week, you will learn faster than if you choose one where you have 10 hours per week instruction. If you choose a home stay option where you live with a local family, you will probably learn faster than if you stay in a four star hotel with a lot of other tourists around you.

Can I receive credit transfer in your program?

For credit transfers, our school assists students in obtaining any information and documentation required supporting their request for course credit. Of course, the final decision to offer academic credit is up to the university. As an official HSK center, our school recommends students to take HSK test so that the language Proficiency can be recognized immediately.

Will my teachers speak English?

Many teachers speak English or other foreign languages, which can at times be beneficial, but this is certainly not necessary as it is better for you to spend the great majority of your time speaking and listening to the language you want to learn.

What if I don’t speak a word of Chinese now?

Don’t let this discourage you. Our school is very experienced with teaching “absolute beginners” and The Bridge School’s professional staffs will be there to help you with any problems you may encounter. Furthermore, there will be an orientation for all the Study Abroad China Program students on the first day, and a brief introduction for total beginners to guide your Chinese language learning

How do I get to the school?

The BridgeSchool offers you complimentary airport pickup and brings you directly to the school or your accommodation. If you don’t want to be picked up, we will provide you with clear directions to the school and suggestions for modes of transportation there.

When is the best day to arrive at my accommodation?

Accommodation is made available on Sundays or, otherwise, on the day before your program starts and the last day of your accommodation is on Saturdays, or on the day after your program ends.

Can I arrive before my program starts?

That will be no problem, however please inform the Bridge School of your arrival date well in advance and please be aware that there will be extra charges for accommodation, please contact us for further information.

How is the host family arranged by your school?   

Each family is interviewed by our staff, and security check is completed before a family is accepted. Most of the hosts have professional careers and have a general understanding of foreign culture. Most families are located within the communities where there is a 24 hour security service.

Can I access the Internet?

All hotels and our apartments and host families have ADSL Internet connection.
